I’m currently preparing a cryptic and very much liked the look of the Lost Mind archetype. There’s a feature in there called Symbols of the Void, it allows me to manifest the ‘Symbol of’ spells as powers of the same level. My question is, given the cryptic’s feature called Pattern Designs which causes patterns to manifest around me anyway, would the spells still have a 10 minute casting time and require expensive reagents? I assume both exist to represent the time needed to paint the pattern on the wall and the cost of the paints, however, if I’m manifesting the powers as patterns in the air why would I still need to spend the time or pay the cost? Finally, if they don’t take 10 minutes to manifest, how long would it take? Full round action? Standard?
Thanks in advance for your help,

Pattern designs in no way lessens the material costs of manifesting. There is a material cost to the psionic equivalent of lesser wish, if Cryptics could manifest that, they would still have to pay the cost.Andreas RönnqvistKeymasterJune 12, 2015 at 07:39Post count: 96
They would still have a 10 minute casting time, would still be attached to an object (ie not manifested floating in the air) and all other trappings of the spell, including needing physical components (which as you say represent the items with which it is made).
