Want to do some work for Dreamscarred Press? We are happy to discuss potential work!
Writers & Editors
We are always open to new projects or ideas! We also have lots of projects we’d like to do, but not enough time in the day to get them all done. If you’re interested in writing or editing for Dreamscarred Press, please consider the following criteria before submitting a proposal or inquiry to jeremy AT dreamscarred DOT com
Please note that writing and editing jobs at Dreamscarred Press are freelance positions.
A writer should have:
- A solid grasp of the Pathfinder RPG rules, as well as the rules for whichever Dreamscarred Press supplement you’d like to design for (such as Ultimate Psionics if desiring to do work on psionics, Path of War if you want to write maneuver-based material, etc.).
- Strong writing skills that include proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
- The ability to write concise, clear, and mechanically balanced rules without need for significant editing. Some editing and rules tweaking is OK and normal, but we should not have to overhaul or rebalance most or all of your work.
- Inventive and imaginative ideas. New twists on old concepts or vastly different ways of doing things are great! Putting a whole bunch of existing concepts into a new package is boring.
- The ability to complete a project with minimal direct supervision and in a reasonable time frame based upon the length of the project.
- Willingness to adapt concepts or designs based upon internal and external feedback.
- An understanding of industry-standard capitalization and formatting – for example, feat names are capitalized, power names are italicized but not capitalized, etc.
An editor should have:
- A strong understanding of American English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- An understanding of the system mechanics for the project, if applicable.
- An understanding of industry-standard capitalization and formatting – for example, feat names are capitalized, power names are italicized but not capitalized, etc.
- Access to a word-processing application that can track changes made.

This includes the use of Adobe InDesign (preferably CC), Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat. Some level of graphic design is expected to make the layout of a particular project match that project’s theme. Layout work is done on a work for hire basis and all source files must be submitted upon completion of the project.
